After a happy check up....

Today after the monthly check up, hubby was nice enough to let me shop while he had teh tarik. Makan McD at SS2 after the check up was just a reason so that I can drop by at my 2 favourite fabric store in the area. Happy to report that the little one is a healthy 27 weeks plus gestation age baby and the mama who does not look 7 months preggy, more like 9 month, is also healthy. :P

I know, the long list tak habis lagi, dah beli fabric lain but I promise, most of it are just to finish up the existing projects.

Cotton and flannel for the little ones.

Robert Kaufman lime green and stripped cotton fabric for my sister's apron, Japanese pink and white polkadot cotton for Dina's dress (the rest for Nia/little ones dress) and a plain peach cotton for the apron lining.

Cotton flannel for SIL's soon to arrive baby boy. I'm going to make a rag blanket. My first attempt in quilting and making rag blankets. 4 long quarters = 1 meter.

Remember the pinafore dress? Don't she look like she loves it.

Cut away

Today I only have mood and time to cut. Since I have so many things I want to do and organize, I brought out all the material I want to use and start cutting. It's probably the nesting period where a preggy mummy starts organizing and cleaning stuff. I am happy with today's progress. This will keep me busy for some time since I am on leave for 3 days this week but one thing for sure I have to go and watch a movie. I've not done that in ages. I feel like watching Merong Mahawangsa.

1) Refashion : Nia's dress using denim jeans and remnants (soft cotton corduroy and plain cotton) of previous project DONE!

2) The little one's dress using the same material: refashion denim and remnants

3) Dina's little flower cotton dress DONE!

4) Refashion: Nia's flare 3/4 pants (it was supposed to be a 3/4 tights) using my preloved stretchable cotton tract bottom

5) Refashion: Apron for my sister using the denim and cotton

6) Refashion: Nia's dress/top using my cotton T shirt material top

7) A yellow flowered cotton blouse for Nia 1/2 way done a year ago DONE!

8) The same material of 1/2 way done skirt which was supposed to be for the above but cut too small. So this is going to be for the little one. DONE!

9) Refashion : Pink spaghetti strap top for Nia

10) Refashion : White spaghetti strap dress for Nia Whoa! That's a lot to do. Can't wait.....

Inspired : New project

Ok, tell me who doesn't get inspired after reading this blog?

She has the most beautiful and colouful fabrics under her name and a studio to die for..hhhaaahh.

I bought the 45" cotton above 2 months ago. They had a promotion, buy 1 meter, free 1 meter - 2 meters in total. I love the design and colours but did not have any project to go with it. Since being preggy and in need of more maternity selection I decided that this will be one of my Museum Tunic the maternity blouse version and I calculated if I be a bit stingy with the material, I could sqeeze in a cute Flirting the Issue Skirt for Nia. Yeay!

2010 Sewing project

Away and having fun

I am away for work in the East Coast, Terengganu Darul Iman. Terengganu is famous for its local batik print. So what does an avid sewing hobbyist does while away alone in a fabric famous state? Buy fabrics of course. Bought a few but all for my cousin's wedding. It's a culture, can I use the word culture here?, that each side of the family of the bride or the groom to wear the same colour tone to show support, togetherness and just because it's fun.

So for my cousin, the groom's upcoming wedding, there will be gold - for the akad nikah, turquoise for the bride's reception and lilac - for the groom's reception. 3 colours I tell you. Itu tak masuk masa meminang and bertunang but all in the name of fun.

So I stopped by at the Noor Arfa boutique. It has it's own building now, apparently since 2008. Very big and nice. After that went to a fabric store near the hotel I'm staying in Dungun.

Colour theme : Turquoise
Top left : Linen for hubby's shirt (decide he's not wearing baju Melayu for this one cause he'll only wear it this once and probably wear it again in 2 years time), sending it to tailor
Bottom left : SB Line for DD, Baju kurung pesak Pahang, will be done by moi
Right : A fabric called Sarong Discharge from Noor Arfa for bottom and a gold/turquoise embroidered lace for top, may do this myself.

All in not more than RM130. Good job eh? Have not worn lace for the past few years. Excited about this.

This lilac-ish batik print called Sarong Masjid Terapung (for some reason) was purchased at Noor Arfa. I actually have the lilac top I made for raya. So we'll see how this goes.

And what does an avid sewing hobbyist bring for bedtime stories when she's away? Recently bought sewing magazines, of course.

Projects to come

Last weekend mom wanted to go to a local fabric store, Nagoya which was on sale. This was very rare, mom asking me out for shopping because she almost never does. Fabric? On sale? Of course mom. We went to the one at Jalan TAR. On the way there I passed by a little secluded shop. They had mannequin, stuff and my jaw dropped......a dressform......OMG OMG! Incidentally the cars were not moving. I wound down the window and shouted at the sales lady. "Patung tu boleh cucuk pin untuk buat baju?" "Boleh." "Berapa?" "RM100". Cheap aint it? This will be my next thing on the list. I didn't plan to shop but how can I not? The damages was done.

I plan to make these for Nia, polka dots and gingham. Love it!

Flannel fabrics for two of my friends who are giving birth this year. I have not thought about what to do with it yet.

A little gift for me. Another fabric and lining for baju kurung.

This is a third one. Satu pun belum buat lagi.

I've not done baju kurung before but I have big dreams, as usual. Haha

Mom wanted me to buy those brown paper and tracing paper for pattern making. Before this, I've been using A4 paper and newspaper je. Proper la sikit.

And these? These are sample fabric that was sold at the SS2 fabric store. I just can't keep my hand to myself.

My first ever pattern. The other patterns are mom's so it does not count. I am going to make day shirt and dress. Yeay! And the fabric below the packaging. Owh you don't want to know.

I have to post this one here as well because I love it too much. I have updated this in my other blog. It was a present from hubby for my birthday mid April. No wonder you see all those fabrics. I treated myself well on this year's birthday.

NOTE : I am going to update old posts on sewing from my other blog from time to time. So you'll older projects which was done earlier. Nothing WOW! Just sharing.
